Portsmouth based natural skincare business, Southsea Bathing Hut, has been named Retailer Of The Year in the Johnston Press South Business Awards.
The awards are dedicated to recognising, rewarding and celebrating local businesses in the south of England. Southsea Bathing Hut was shortlisted having won in their local category, and went on to scoop the overall prize at a ceremony celebrating excellence at Brighton’s Grand Hotel.
Samantha Worsey, founder and director of Southsea Bathing Hut, says:
“Winning Retailer of the Year is a huge honour. It is also a spur to keep on growing and improving what we do. We only started trading in April 2015, so to win this award is very encouraging. It shows our small team of three that the quality of what we do really shines through.”
Samantha is thrilled with the exposure this award gives her business:
“We’re a proudly local business, built on an original idea to revive Portsmouth’s lost soap-making heritage. By listening to customer feedback, we’ve developed a whole range of natural skincare from the seaside. Thanks to online sales, our customer base already extends beyond the south of England. But there are many more people to reach. Hopefully, winning this award will help.”
She says there is a real sense of momentum behind Southsea Bathing Hut:
“We have exciting plans for the future and will launch a variety of new products in November. As always, each one will be totally natural and as refreshing, restorative and reviving as a dip in the sea. We are for everyone, anywhere, who wants to take better care of their skin using natural, ethical products. We say, if you switch to Southsea Bathing Hut, you’ll love the way you feel.”
It seems that the awards’ judges agreed.
