What is a Rolling Waves Head & Shoulder Massage?
A stress-relieving and rejuvenating aromatherapy massage for the neck, shoulders, arms, hands and scalp – areas commonly affected by mental and emotional stress.
How does a Rolling Waves Head & Shoulder Massage work?
By working with a rhythmic technique, reminiscent of waves gently lapping the shore, our therapist will help to melt away troubles by relieving muscular discomfort and tension as well as calming the spirit, aiding relaxation and promoting clear thinking.
Your therapist will use our expertly blended massage oil and a combination of gentle massage techniques to work the upper back, moving through the shoulders, upper arms and then working deeply into the neck before moving up to the scalp. In each area, your therapist will work pressure points where tension accumulates; stimulating, relaxing and reviving the whole of the head, neck and shoulders.

Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment start time.
Due to the current Healthy & Safety guidelines, we cannot currently provide a pre-treatment waiting area for The Lagoon.
On arrival at Southsea Bathing Hut, you will be greeted by our friendly team. You will be provided with hand sanitiser and we will check your temperature using a digital, contactless thermometer.
You will then be guided through to The Lagoon Treatment Room. If it is your first time at The Lagoon you’ll be asked to complete a pre-treatment client questionnaire online when you book your appointment. So there will be no paperwork to complete during your actual treatment visit.
Our skilled therapist will ask some questions to establish your needs. This will help to identify any areas of your body which may require more focus and release during your treatment. They will further tailor your treatment by selecting an essential oil blend to suit your needs.
Your therapist will give you time to undress privately and lie down on our massage table, where you may cover yourself with towels. You will not be completely exposed at any point during your treatment.
You will begin on your stomach and turn over at the halfway point.
Avoid eating a heavy meal or drinking alcohol prior to the treatment.
Please ensure you arrive wearing your mask or face covering, as this is mandatory in all enclosed spaces from 24th July.
Please only bring essential belongings and leave valuables at home. Post-treatment balance payments can only be made by Visa/Debit/Credit Card or Southsea Bathing Hut Gift Card.
This treatment involves massage oils being massaged directly into the scalp and hairline. We, therefore, recommend bringing a hairbrush and hair tie (as necessary) for use after your treatment. We have mirrors hanging in The Lagoon for your convenience. The 30 minute treatment time is the actual time our Natural Skincare & Wellbeing Therapist will be performing your treatment. Please allow an additional 5-10 minutes following your treatment to dress and receive any after-care advice.
Add Hot Stone or Infrared Light Therapy to this treatment for a small additional fee (£5).
Hot Stone Therapy is a specialist massage that uses smooth, flat, heated basalt positioned in the palms of the therapist's hands, working along the spine, legs and between the toes. The stones warm and relax your muscles, allowing a deeper pressure to be applied during your massage.
Infrared Therapy involves an infrared lamp being placed over the body for up to 20 minutes during your treatment. It prompts the release of nitric oxide in the body, which enhances blood flow. This brings oxygen and nutrients to injured, aching tissues, resulting in fast relief from pain and inflammation.
Due to the current guidelines surrounding the Beauty & Wellness Industry, we cannot provide treatments for people who are identified as clinically extremely vulnerable or anyone clinically vulnerable.
This includes anyone over the age of 70, pregnant women or anyone who usually needs a flu jab for underlying medical conditions. Please refer to www.gov.uk for further information or click here.
